Can’t We All Just Get Along
Is it just me and my over sensitive hormones, or is society becoming increasingly rude?
Every day people around me are forgetting their manners.
The clerks at the big box store are the absolute worst culprits! When did it become acceptable to hand someone their receipt and change and mumble “here you go” instead of “thank you and have a nice day”?
Sunday morning, when we were shorted one newspaper, my husband called to get another one delivered. He was very polite, told the rep that we would like to have another newspaper delivered, rather than receive a credit to our account. She was a bit snippy with him, I have no idea why. It’s not as though she was going to be bringing us the paper, and it wasn’t our fault she had to work on a Sunday. But at any rate, we are still waiting for that paper!
And that’s the stuff that drives me batty. I can’t just let it go. I keep dwelling on it and getting more and more angry. Which in turn puts me in a bad mood and has me lashing out rudely at people around me.
So I’m going to try a little experiment in politeness.
The next time someone is rude to me or gives me some undeserved attitude, I’m going to remember my manners and hope that I can disarm them with my improved attitude.
But if that doesn’t work, I’m just going to call them a stupid poo poo head.

i agree 100% that our society is losing its manners. It is a huge pet peeve of mine and I’m trying to teach my kids better regardless of what it seems everyone else is doing!!
For years, I have lived by the motto, “Kill ‘em with kindness.” There is actually great satisfaction in not spitting back a snappy comment when rudeness rises. Plus, it really disarms the “Johnny Crappleseeds” of the world.
