When Breathing Might Be Best

| April 14, 2011 | Comments (3)

I love bunnies. At this late point in my life, I have either forgotten or misplaced in my brain, why the Easter Bunny has its place during our Easter Celebrations. I recall that they are cute, a representation of life’s renewal process, fresh starts, and, well, bunnies hop – maybe somehow relating to how we may feel jumping with joy as we breathe in Spring.

Whatever the case may be, this year, I am a tad melancholy. Candy still delights my 15 year old. His smile still states his youth, but time is definitely fleeting. Flying. Bursting into a blue sky, and I can not help but feel left behind.

He senses it too. As we pulled in front of his school, our usual parting kiss went from two smacks to three and then four. There have been more hugs before bed, and sometimes I catch him glancing where I used to be the one with the lingering gazes.

Last year’s emotions were the transition to high school. This year, I simply want time to slow. I want to savor. I want to hold him tight. But I know that life is motion.

We move forward and ahead. I have given him his tools to make a great life and I do support that!

I think, as long as I know I can keep getting kisses, and we are both alive for hugs,
Easter bunny or no, we can blossom into full bloom.

So, what would be a meaningful expression for this year’s Easter? Embracing of the great weather and warm season with a song? Chicago has already turned out the sidewalk cafes so I definitely want to eat, but what else will be purposeful, marking this feeling I am experiencing at this time? A photo shoot? A picnic, a walk?

I truly can not decide… maybe I will simply stick with breathing in.
