Walk this way, talk this way
If I had a penny for every time my mother said “boys will be boys” I’d be in the South of France right now begging my Cabana boy to bring me another Grand Marnier…
Yes, aggression sort of comes with testosterone, but at what point do we step in and say “Dude, is it REALLY that serious? W-a-l-k a-w-a-y.”
What if your son, or daughter, assumes the passive stance and is beaten, ridiculed or shot anyway? What if your child IS simply walking down the street after escorting his girlfriend home? Or coming home from school?
Chicago, Land-O-AlCapone, what do we really expect from you? The toughness of the Native Americans, The French and trading-post life led us to our gangland and serial-killing fame, so how can we turn to you and say, “Shelter the children”?
It may seem far-fetched, but that is exactly what I am pleading right now.
Really, what I am requesting is shelter for us all. City of Big Shoulders, please embrace… and shelter us all.
