Boo!!!
It’s once again one of my absolute favorite times of the year! Now don’t hate me Clark Griswold, but I must say that I love Halloween almost as much as I love Christmas. Cause when else can you dress up like a complete bafoon and have it be socially acceptable??! And, luckily, my kids really get into the spirit of things right along with me. One of their absolute favorite things to do during this ghoulish season of fun is to “Boo” other people in our neighborhood.
Oh, don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that we go and scare the living daylights out of little old Mrs. X down on the corner. No,we’re not THAT nucking futs! What it does mean, however, is that we choose two of our neighbors who actually have children in their homes as our targets. We gather up buckets of candy, the “Boo” instruction sheet and a hand-drawn ghost. We then sneak up to their front doors, leave the goods, ring their doorbells, and run like mad. The exciting part is trying not to get caught as we bolt away from the scene. (Remember the rush you used to get from “Ding, Dong, Ditch“?!)
The person who’s been “Boo’d” is then, in turn, supposed to hang the ghost on his front door and then “Boo” two other neighbors who haven’t yet been “Boo’d“. It’s really cute to see all the little ghost-decorated doors on the block by the time we’re finally out trick-or-treating on Halloween, and it’s definitely a great way to bring the neighborhood together. Wanna start this fun tradition in your own hood? All it takes is one little “Boo” to get the ball rolling….

we don’t live in an area I would do this is (not safe) but I LOVE the idea.
Anything for the rush of ring and run! And Candy!
We love to get Boo’d but we love to Boo even more!
My favorite part is sneaking a peek at the unsuspecting parent opening the door
We’ve never made our own ghost, though. Such a cute idea- we’ll have to do that next year!
