Mothers as Ambassadors For Peace

| May 15, 2013 | Comments (0)

IMG_4873Deirdre Koldyke and Laura Bushnell began the EarthHeart Foundation with a vision of mothers coming together.

They saw mothers “united for the sake of our children” working together to find a solution to the senseless violence plaguing Chicago streets.

On May 11, 2013, that vision came to life at the inaugural Peace Celebration . Mother Ambassadors for Peace, community leaders and children themselves all banded together in a walk from Emmett Till School 6543 South Champlain to University of Chicago Assembly Hall 1414 East 59th.

The afternoon program led by WGN’s Tonya Francisco was an outpouring of testimonies and pleas to take control of urban demise.

Chicago City Treasurer, Stephanie D. Neely, Soul Children of Chicago, Pastor Jolinda Wade, along with Koldyke herself, shared insight and hopes that were also voiced by featured MAP (Mother Ambassadors for Peace).
