Your family is invited to PLAY BALL with the Chicago White Sox this weekend

SouthpawThe Chicago White Sox have a fun filled weekend planned for your family and friends as part of Major League Baseball’s PLAY BALL WEEKEND.  This “league-wide effort by MLB and all 30 clubs to engage young baseball fans and celebrate youth participation in baseball and softball. The new initiative, which will make kids a starring attraction at ballgames along with 750 active players of note, will launch Saturday and Sunday in ballparks around the Majors.”

On Saturday, June 11, the team celebrates Father Daughter Day. Fathers, stepfathers, father-figures and their daughters are invited to enjoy a special day at U.S. Cellular Field to watch the White Sox play the Kansas City Royals. Kids are invited to  participate in an on-field pre-game parade. Beggars Pizza is sponsoring the day’s festive giveaway — a White Sox Hawaiian Shirt — to the first 20,000 fans.

The party continues when Country music singer/songwriter Brice Long sings the National Anthem. Long co-wrote Gary Allan’s 2004 top selling single “Nothing on but the Radio” as well as Randy Houser’s hit singles “Anything Goes” and “Like a Cowboy.”

Family-friendly entertainment during the game will include a face painter and balloonist. One lucky child attending the game will make the “Play Ball” announcement in honor of PLAY BALL weekend. Game time is at 1:10 p.m. If your child would like to participate in the parade you’ll need to be at the Gate 1 area no later than 12:15 p.m. Fans can purchase specially priced tickets for this early Father’s Day celebration at whitesox.com/dad.

Sunday, June 12, the fun continues with Southpaw’s Birthday Party with entertainment including “children’s running the bases postgame (weather permitting), face painters, balloonists and a caricature artist. Kids ages 10 and under eat free off the kids menu at ChiSox Bar & Grill on Family Sundays.” This Coca-Cola Family Sunday event features Chicago White Sox Wives and Volunteer Corps members collecting new, unwrapped toys for TAPS and USO of Illinois families in honor of Sox Serve Week. All fans attending the game will receive an oversized trading card featuring Southpaw, presented by Topps. Coca-Cola Family Sunday tickets are available for as little as $5 in the Upper Level and $15 in the Lower Level with $10 parking.

For those seeking an early start to Southpaw’s Birthday Party, the first 500 fans to purchase “Selfie Sunday” tickets will have the opportunity to enter the ballpark at 10:15 a.m. for a “selfie” photo session with select White Sox players and/or coaches. These tickets include both entrance to the Selfie Sunday event as well as a Lower Box ticket for the game. Tickets and additional information for this ballpark promotion are available at whitesox.com/selfiesunday.
