School in a hands-on science experiment as they learn the importance of wildlife conservation and protecting our local ecosystems.

January 2017 brought Dawn and the Shedd Aquarium together to launch a new in-class, web accessible STEM curriculum that allows teachers to offer 5th – 8th grades five Next Generation Science Standards lesson plans.

Thirty-one Telpochcalli Elementary Public School students attended the NextGen Responders program led by the Shedd’s Sabrina Bainbridge for a hands-on science experiment.  Shedd’s Animal Response Team’s Lana Vaneagasem discussed endangered African penguin rescue efforts. The children learned what they can do to help and participated in a penguin encounter.
