CCT_Beatrix Potter_4_web‘Tis the season for families to plan holiday outings. When our girls were little, we struggled to find age-appropriate events with other families dealing with squirmy kids. These three wonderful productions are perfect for families with young children.

The Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Party
Peter Rabbit, Mr. Jeremy Fisher and Simpkin the cat all play major roles in this highly interactive, trunk and puppet show, complete with live music and mechanical pulls and levers that kids get to turn and crank to help tell every family’s favorite Beatrix Potter animal tales.  This show is designed for children from 2 – 6, but children of all ages will enjoy the production. Everyone is invited to enjoy tea or hot cocoa with Chicago Children’s Theatre’s best friends from Beatrix Potter’s beloved English Lake District. The show runs from December 2 -17. For more information or to purchase tickets online at or call (872) 222-9555.

A Christmas Carol
William Osetek adapted this annual Drury Lane Theatre for Young Audiences holiday classic to keep the story you know in a format suited for young attention spans. The 60 minute production runs Wednesday – Sunday through December 23. A special ASL Interpreted Performance is scheduled on Thursday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit or call (630) 530-0111. There is plenty of free parking

Sleeping Beauty
Experience one prince’s journey to save his beautiful princess with Marc Robin’s musical adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale,  SLEEPING BEAUTY, brought to life for children of all ages at The Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences from November 10 through December 30. Filled with unconventional personalities, broken rules, and quests aplenty, this colorful, musical fairy tale will be directed and choreographed by Scott Weinstein.  Free parking is available at all shows. To reserve tickets, call  the Marriott Theatre Box Office at (847) 634.0200 or visit
